BUKOVICKA SPA

LOCATION, CLIMATE, TRAFFIC LINKS

Bukovicka Spa is situated in the centre of Arandjelovac, a town 76 km away from Belgrade, at the foot of Mount Bukulja, at 256 m above sea level, with a moderate-continental climate.

You can reach the spa by the Belgrade-Nis highway, taking the turnpike to Mladenovac and Orasac.

 Natural curative factors

There are several springs of Bukovicka mineral water, with temperatures ranging from 12 to 28 degrees Celsius. The waters of the so-called "cold" springs are used for drinking, whereas the "hot" waters are used for baths. The clay is used for cold wrappings, and the mineral water is tapped and bottled and widely known on the market as "Knjaz Milos" mineral water.

 Medical indications

Urinary tract diseases, liver, pancreatic and biliary tract diseases, urinary tract diseases, inflammatory and degenerative rheumatism, extra-articular rheumatism, metabolism diseases, and especially children diabetes.

 Treatment

Bathing in mineral water, drinking mineral water, cold clay wrappings.

Cultural, entertainment, sports and recreative programmes

The spa has a nicely decorated park spreading over 20 hectares of land, with flower beds and rare plants in the French park section, and a fitness course at the woody part of the park. At the same time, the park is also an open sculpture museum with works by famous Serbian and foreign sculptors, which belong to a collection made at the "Beli Vencac" exhibition, which is traditionally held each year. The spa park is one of the three legally protected cultural and historical places in the area of the Arandjelovac municipality. The other two are the Risovaca cave and the Orasac village.

The programme of the international "Marble and Sounds" exhibition hosts shows of the most diverse character: opera and ballet nights, theatrical plays, movie projections, literary evenings, painting exhibitions, concerts.

In the vicinity of the spa there are numerous places worth visiting: the Risovacka cave with its Paleolithic museum, the Town of Karadjordje in Topola, the mausoleum of King Petar I at Oplenac, the village of Orasac, where the First Serbian Insurrection was initiated, as well as the medieval monasteries of Blagovestenje, Voljavca and Nikolje.

The surrounding villages are rich with hunting game, and Lake Garasi on the other side of Mount Bukulja is a true paradise for fishermen.
